SAFELY!!

Rifle: On Saturday, Jan. 5, 2019, at 0900, eight rifle shooters met at our range to fire the regular weekly rifle match. The temperature was 34 and 88% humidity with overcast skies changing to partly sunny with no wind. It was 38 with 72% humidity by the end. Course of fire is 10 shots slow fire prone, 10 shots rapid fire prone, 10 shots slow fire standing.
                       
The following fired rifles that are used in the CMP (Civilian Marksmanship Program) course of fire and are in the medal score category:  High Score was Dave Spearing.  He had a CMP silver medal score. He fired a 7.65X53 1909 Argentine Mauser and scored 96-2X’s+93-3X’s+88=277-6X’s. Mike Gentile fired a .30 cal. M1 Garand and scored 70+88-1X+67=225-1X. John Bay fired a .30 cal. US M1903-A3 and scored 87-1X+80+66=232-1X.
 
The following fired other rifles:  High Score was Gil Holm.  He fired a .22 cal. Rimfire with a scope and scored 99-4X’s+99-5X’s+87-2X’s=285-11X’s. Chuck Cargile fired a .17 cal. Hornet with a scope and scored 100-6X’s+99-6X’s+75=274-14X’s.  Chuck Chernoff fired a .22 cal. Rimfire and scored 94-1X+90-1X+87=271-2X’s. Dave Simmons fired a .22 cal. Rimfire and scored 87+94-2X’s+83=264-2X’s. Mark Walker fired a .223 cal. and scored 88-1X+71+73-1X=232-2X’s.
 
After the match, eight went to the excellent Willow Glen Café for beverages. Dick Cyphers joined us. Lynn served drinks, Chuck Cargile paid the tab every one thanks them all.

​Rifle: On Saturday, Dec. 29, 2018, at 0900, nine rifle shooters met at our range to fire the regular weekly rifle match. The temperature was 37 and 82% humidity with dark gray overcast skies; mist and light snow at times with light wind on the range but gusting elsewhere. It was 36 with 84% humidity by the end. Course of fire is 10 shots slow fire prone, 10 shots rapid fire prone, 10 shots slow fire standing.
                      
The following fired rifles that are used in the CMP (Civilian Marksmanship Program) course of fire and are in the medal score category:  High Score was Dave Spearing.  He had a CMP silver medal score. He fired a .30 cal. US M1903 and scored 94-1X+92-1X+90=276-2X’s. Joe Dwyer fired a .30 cal. US M1903-A3 and scored 91-2X’s+93+70=257-2X’s. Mark Walker fired a .30 cal. M1 Garand and scored 88+84+72=244. Dave Simmons fired a .30 cal. M1 Garand and scored 83+85-1X+24=192-1X.

The following fired other rifles:  High Score was Gil Holm he fired a .223 cal. with a scope and scored 96-2X’s+98-1X+82=276-3X’s. Craig Cargile fired a .243 cal. with a scope and scored 96-1X+89+74-1X=259-2X’s. Chuck Cargile fired a .17 cal. Hornet with a scope and scored 100-4X’s+100-4X’s+57=257-8X’s. Chuck Chernoff he fired a .222 cal. with a scope and scored 97-2X’s+89+63=249-2X’s. John Bay fired a.22 cal. Rimfire and scored 79+78+60=217.

It was 26 with 60% humidity by the end. Course of fire is 10 shots slow fire prone, 10 shots rapid fire prone, 10 shots slow fire standing.
                     
The following fired rifles that are used in the CMP (Civilian Marksmanship Program) course of fire and are in the medal score category:  High Score was Dave Spearing.  He had a CMP silver medal score. He fired a .30-40 Krag, US M1898 and scored 95-2X’s+95-2X’s+81=271-4X’s. Joe Dwyer fired a .30 cal. US M1903-A3 and scored 88-2X’s+86+79-1X=253-3X’s. Chuck Chernoff fired a .30-40 Krag, US M1898 and scored 90-1X+90+66=246-1X.
 
The following fired other rifles:  High Score was Chuck Cargile.  He fired a .17 cal. Rimfire with a scope and scored 98-4X’s+97-4X’s+69-1X=264-9X’s. Mark Walker fired a .223 cal. and scored 89-1X+88-1X+57=234-3X’s.
