RIFLE NEWS

Rifle: On Saturday, April 13, 2019, at 0900,six rifle shooters met at our range to fire the regular weekly rifle match. The temperature was 56 and 57% humidity with light overcast skies to partly cloudy, and no wind. It was 62 with 44% humidity and sunny by the end. Course of fire is 10 shots slow fire prone, 10 shots rapid fire prone, 10 shots slow fire standing.
                     
The following fired rifles that are used in the CMP (Civilian Marksmanship Program) course of fire and are in the medal score category:  High Score was Mark Walker. He fired a .30 cal. M1 Garand and scored 78+59+69=206.
 
The following fired other rifles:  High Score was Gil Holm. He fired a .22 cal. Rimfire with a scope and scored 97-3X’s+97-2X’s+92=286-5X’s. Dave Spearing fired a .22 cal. Rimfire Model 44 US military trainer and scored 97-3X’s+97+85=279-3X’s. John Bay fired a .22 cal. Rimfire and scored 88-2X’s+94-1X +83-2X’s=265-5X’s. Chuck Chernoff fired a .22 Rimfire and scored 93-1X+93 +77=263-1X. Chuck Cargile fired a .22 cal. Rimfire with a scope and scored 97-2X’s+99-3X’s+59=255-5X’s.
 
After the match, no one went to the excellent Willow Glen Café for beverages.

Rifle: On Saturday, April 27, 2019, at 0900, two rifle shooters met at our range to fire the regular weekly rifle match. The temperature was 38 and 77% humidity with gray overcast skies, light snow at times and gusty winds. It was 38 with 80% humidity and by the end. Course of fire is 10 shots slow fire prone, 10 shots rapid fire prone, 10 shots slow fire standing.
                       
The following fired rifles that are used in the CMP (Civilian Marksmanship Program) course of fire and are in the medal score category:  High Score was Dave Spearing.  He had a CMP silver medal score. He fired a 7.65X53 1909 Argentine Mauser and scored 96+96-2X’s+85=277-2X’s. John Bay fired a.30 cal. US M1903-A3 and scored 88-1X+84 +68=240-1X.
 
After the match, two went to the excellent Willow Glen Café for beverages. Stacy served drinks and Dave Spearing paid the tab, every one thanked them both.

It was 56 with 75% humidity by the end. Course of fire is 10 shots slow fire prone, 10 shots rapid fire prone, 10 shots slow fire standing.
                     
The following fired rifles that are used in the CMP (Civilian Marksmanship Program) course of fire and are in the medal score category:  High Score was Joe Dwyer.  He fired a .30 cal. US M1903-A3 and scored 91-1X+96-2X’s+64=251-3X’s. Dave Spearing fired an 8X57 M48 Yugo Mauser and scored 94-2X’s+77-1X+76=247-3X’s.
 
The following fired other rifles with open sights:  High Score was Mike Gentile.  He fired a .223 cal. and scored 91-1X+82+57=230-1X. Chuck Chernoff fired a .300 Savage and scored 75+76-1X+76=227-1X.  Hal Chernoff fired a .223 cal. and scored 86-1X+65+61=212-1X. 
 
The following fired other rifles with scopes:  High Score was Gil Holm. He fired a .22 cal. Rimfire with a scope and scored 99-1X+98-1X+88-1X=285-3X’s. John Bay fired a.243 Cal. Savage with a scope and scored 98-7X’s+97-1X +86-1X=281-9X’s. Chuck Cargile fired a .17 cal. Hornet with a scope and scored 100-7X’s+100-4X’s+79=279-11X’s. Ralph Reid fired a .17 cal. Rimfire with a scope and scored 95-1X+98-1X+79=272-2X’s.
 
After the match, 9 went to the excellent Willow Glen Café for beverages. Dick Cyphers joined us. Lynn served drinks. In celebration of Joe Dwyer’s birthday his daughter Meghan paid for the drinks and pastries for all.
